FRESHENS HIS ACT
Darrell Hammond is working on his President Bush impression, but it's for his standup act, not for Saturday Night Live.
Not that the position on Saturday Night Live is taken. With Will Ferrell calling it quits, SNL executive producer Lorne Michaels doesn't know yet who will do Bush in the upcoming season. But he doesn't want Hammond to do it because he needs him to impersonate Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, John Ashcroft, Bill Clinton, Al Gore and others.
"It will just be a bizarre situation for me to be doing it on Leno and not doing it on the show, but that's what happens," Hammond tells AP Radio.
Hammond says he's ready for whatever Michaels wants him to do because he's been clean and sober for the past year.
"I thought when I quit drinking that I wasn't going to be able to be funny anymore," Hammond admits. "I was really terrified that I couldn't do anything, really. But it hasn't turned out like that. There is something different about my brain. It may be that it is just not fogged."

BABY BOY
Many of you have been emailing me, asking me about Ana's baby, whether she had it or not yet. Well, on June 24th, Ana gave birth to 9 lb., 1 oz. Frances McKittrick.
Famous SNL attendee Louis Klein personally told me that he ran into Charley McKittrick, Ana's husband, earlier this week, and Charley informed Louis that Ana has not made up her mind, whether she would like to return to Saturday Night Live for another season or not.
